Meet the New Council Members

At the Annual Congregational Meeting held December 2, the congregation elected 7 new council members:

Carol ClarkCarol Clark (3-year term)
Carol has been a member of Zion for the past 18 years. She is married to Greg and has three children, one of whom is currently in confirmation. Carol is an investment principal with Lowry Hill, a private wealth management firm in Minneapolis for whom she has worked the past 15 years. She has served Zion by playing for musical groups the past 10 years and the Family Express service since its beginning. She sings in the senior choir and has also served on the Facility Planning Committee and the Finance Committee. She is interested in the development of small groups and educational opportunities for Zion members.

Dirk FosterDirk Foster (3-year term)
Dirk has been a member of Zion for 15 years. He has been married 21 years to Sue, and has two daughters. Dirk is a senior operations instructor at the Monticello Nuclear Plant. He has served Zion on the finance committee, stewardship committee, a previous term on the church council (including vice president of the congregation) and is currently a confirmation guide. In addition to current committee and service opportunities he is interested in stewardship & youth group activities.

Charles KrauseCharles Krause (3-year term)
Charles is a life-long member of Zion. He is married to Robin and they have two children. Charles is self-employed as a dairy farmer. He has served as a substitute teacher in Sunday School and once was a program resource for Zionaires. He lists the youth program as his interest for future involvement.

Dave SchmidtDave Schmidt (3-year term)
Dave is a life-long member of Zion. He is married to Dawn; five children: three daughters and two sons. Dave is self-employed as a concrete masonry contractor, home builder and land developer with his brothers. He has served Zion as an usher and has donated, time, equipment and materials for various building and grounds projects. He is looking forward to exploring other opportunities for service at Zion.

Doug SchmidtDoug Schmidt (3-year term)
Doug is a life-long member of Zion. He is married to Kelly and has three children. Doug is self-employed as a concrete and masonry contractor, home builder and land developer. He has served Zion in the past as usher, communion assistant and volunteer with Zion’s building and grounds projects. Current interests at Zion include, ushering, Bible study, call committee, communion assistant, property and building committees.

Jud GoerssJud Goerss (2-year term)
Jud has been a member of Zion for 29 years. He is married to Lee Ann and has one daughter. He is manager of field services for Great River Energy of Elk River. He has served Zion on the church council, Christian education, adult education, finance, fellowship, new member, memorials, personnel, property and Lutefisk committees. He has also served in the gospel choir and on the Zion Lutheran Foundation board. His interests include men’s Bible study, finance committee, Lutefisk committee and planning for Zion’s future.

Arnold RudeArnold Rude (1-year term)
Member of Zion for the past 10 years. He is a widower with one adult son. Arnold is retired and has served Zion as a Stephen minister in the past and his primary interest is in Zionaires, of which he is a member.
