For many years Zion has helped sponsor the Murnyak’s Missionary Work in Tanzania. What wonderful devotion Dennis Murnyak and his family have shown in their missionary work. They have helped so many. As you may have heard the Murnyak’s contract expires in June of this year. At that time they will be moving back to the US to start the next chapter in their lives. We wish them all the best and thank them for their years of dedication.
What do we do now? Our Mission committee is looking for that answer. Our committee has some ideas and we are looking for more suggestions. Can you help us find our way? As a congregation we need to grow our mission work.
We all need to participate. Many of you are participating in the “40 Days of Community.” That is all about reaching out and helping in many ways within or immediate community. That is wonderful mission work. We are God’s instrument to spread our love (God’s Love) to our community. As our participation in this community mission work grows, God’s love will blossom in the people participating and the one’s affected by this out pouring of love. They will see that God is good and help spread his love.
Global mission work starts close to home, with our help to the local food shelf or our support to our church partner Redeemer Lutheran. We also want to continue to help support other mission fields around the world, like the work that was being done by the Murnyak’s for so many years. In the next couple of months we will be recommending other mission projects that are in need of our support. In the meantime I hope each and everyone takes time to show your love (God’s Love) to someone in your community.
