Are you a happy giver? On Sunday mornings do you happily sit down before you go out the door and write out the check to the church? Or do you do it begrudgingly and with a sense of resistance and worry? God wants us all to give to church happily and with joy in our heart.
But you ask yourself, how can you do that? Read the rest of this entry »
For generations, Sunday schools have been responsible for teaching children about God’s love. Generations of our children have had the seeds of a faith relationship with Jesus Christ sown in their hearts by adults who understood the importance of leaving a legacy of faith to the church of the future. At Zion, many hundreds of adults have answered this calling over the years; you and I are the fruit of their labors. Would you be willing to join their ranks and help to pass it on by becoming involved in the Sunday school ministry?
As planning for the 2008 – 2009 Sunday school year begins, there are at least 112 positions available for willing and caring adults to plug in to this ministry. A complete listing of the openings can be found on the Children’s Ministry website. If you have questions, please contact a pastor or a Christian Education director at 682.1245 or email Holly ( hhusom (at) zionbuffalo.org ).
One of the very best traditions of the Christian faith is to pass it on. Will you help to create a tradition of excellence and maintain a tradition of faith as part of Zion’s Sunday School Team?

Jesus came, not to make us happy, but to teach us how to be joyful. Jesus said in John 15:11 “I have come that your joy might be increased.” Or, as another translation says, “I have come that your joy might be complete.” Jesus comes to us by the way of the cross, which at first glance, is a time and a place of sorrow, darkness, gloom and death. When we look closer, it becomes our joy in Christ. He clears the way for us.
Studies have shown that a visitor forms a lasting impression of a church within 45 – 90 seconds of walking through the doors. Do you ever wonder what impression Zion makes on visitors? Stop wondering! Replace that wonder with certainty. Become a part of an All-Star Greeter’s Ministry! The Greeter’s Academy is meant for anyone who has a heart for welcoming all members to worship. Not just those who are known, but especially those who are new and visiting. The purpose is simple: to use gracious hospitality and loving care to bridge a gap of uncertainty and discomfort that exists for people who are unfamiliar or new to an organization.
