Yes – You Can Buy Happiness!

But, there is a catch. (There’s always a catch.) It seems that people that spent more money on other people, were happier than people who spent the money on themselves.

Zion Foundation

In addition to the gift of $1,500 for bell refurbishing, the Zion Foundation has recently donated $2,000 to Sharington Place, and approved the final quarterly payment of the $12,000 commitment to Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church. A thank you note was received from Maria Squadroni for her scholarship, and Scott Morin updated the board on the current office computer upgrades.

Silent Santa Donations Needed

The Buffalo Silent Santa/Toys for Tots is underway again this year, busily preparing for the task of providing toys to children from Buffalo and Montrose who would not have a traditional “Christmas” without help from Silent Santa.

Look for Buffalo Silent Santa/Toys for Tots boxes located at Zion and in many local businesses. As you see these boxes, we want you to know that all the toys and gifts that are donated will stay right here in the Buffalo and Montrose communities. Read the rest of this entry »

Buffalo Adult Day Care is asking for help with their Christmas program to benefit Wright County senior citizens. You can participate by taking a tag from the wreath in the narthex and returning the gift (wrapped or unwrapped) with the tag to the church office by Sunday, December 14.

Mitten Tree

Please bring hats, scarves and mittens for the mitten tree in the Narthex. Donations will be accepted until December 14 and will go to local people in need through the Silent Santa project.

Hospice in Tanzania

Zion has made a commitment to donate 3% of income received through the Forward in Faith fund to a variety of mission projects on a semi-annual basis. The Global Missions committee selected the work of Dr. Kristopher Hartwig with Hospice Development in Tanzania for the May 18-November 17, 2008 gift.
Dr. Hartwig was in the area in November visited Zion to tell the Global Missions committee more about his work. If you missed that event, you can still catch Dr. Hartwig’s slide presentation at www.zionbuffalo.org/TZ
