During Advent, God Pause devotions will be taken from “My Soul Proclaims Your Greatness,” a daily devotional produced by Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and Luther Seminary.
November is the month of Thanksgiving, but it often also includes the beginning of a new church year. This year, November 29 is the first Sunday of Advent. The season of Advent is about Jesus, the Word, “coming.” It’s about anticipating and preparing for Christ’s arrival.
God comes to us in many and various ways. He speaks to us through the prophets and saints. He comes and speaks to us when we are listening. He comes in the beauty and mysteries of nature. Most of all, God comes in the person of Christ, speaking to his listeners face to face.
That’s what Advent is really all about: God visiting the earth in person to speak with anyone and everyone who is ready to do so.
I Love The Season Of Advent. It’s a wonderful time to celebrate the past, present and future reign of God. We listen to the voice of the prophets telling of the coming of the Messiah. And, we look forward with great anticipation of life as it will be in the fullness of time.

The season of Advent begins on November 30. During this advent time of preparing for Christ’s coming at Christmas please pick up some of the resources provided by the Zion Worship and Music Committee. Devotional books for individuals and for families with children are available, as well as key fob advent tags. Advent resources are available at the information desk in the narthex.
